I am a perfectionist and a procrastinator. I didn’t decide on the final theme for Alba’s third birthday party until the week of. She’s currently obsessed with Peppa Pig and Minnie Mouse so those were my initial thoughts as far a themes but I couldn’t find much that was visually appealing with either one. Everything that involves kids birthday parties is way too colorful for my photographer brain so I went with a simple and elegant pink and gold theme.
Since I waited until somewhat last minute, I started searching Amazon for all the party decor and decided that whatever I wasn’t able to find on the Amazon website, I’d go and search at the local party store or Michaels.
It turns out Amazon has pretty much everything I needed to put the whole party together, minus the cake and food.
We had her party at the local Play Street Museum. Alba loves going there and I thought she would have a great time playing at the Museum with her friends during her party. The place is also super cute and they have a nice little party corner with tables that they let you decorate. They allow thirty minutes before the party starts for party setup so I had to make sure everything was ready to go before we got there.
I decided to order this Balloon Arch Garland Kit with Pink White Rose Gold & Gold Confetti Balloons and put together a balloon garland at home and then take it to the venue to hang. I would highly recommend ordering a pump if you don’t already have one, as I can’t imagine blowing up all of these balloons by mouth.
We already had a pump and it was similar to this one – Electric Balloon Inflator Air Pump. It made blowing up the balloons a breeze.
The balloon garland came with instructions and was very easy to make. It comes with a strip on which you attach the balloons to in whatever order you like them to appear. We managed to stuff it all in my SUV and take to the party. It was probably my favorite part of all the decor and really added to the whole feel and look of the room.
Little friendly piece of advice – if you overfill the balloons with air, they may pop. And if it happens to be one filled with confetti, you’ll have a confetti explosion. You may or may want this, it could be fun to pop one or two for a special effect but just note in case you don’t want confetti all over the place.
I also ordered this Gold Glittery Happy Birthday Banner and Gold Glittery Circle Dots Garland to hang along with the balloons that added a little extra pop for the cake table.
I used the gold sequin table cloth for the cake table and pink sequin table runners for the tables. I also got this white and gold paper plates and cups set that looked really great with the whole setup. Of course, gold plastic silverware was a must.
I already had a cake stand that I loved and used for her cake, but I found a similar one on Amazon. I also got these adorable pink and gold cupcake stands from Amazon a couple of years ago, and they are still available.
I wanted something really simple for the party favors so I went with these Jigsaw Wooden Puzzles that came with the party favor gold bags. I then added the following to each bag:
Puffy Stickers Variety Pack
Play-Doh
Lollipop
Gold chocolate coin that I picked up from the Target’s Dollar Spot
Chocolate candy bar
You can alway skip the chocolate and the lollipop and go for a more healthy snack if that’s your thing, or add one of these small toys instead.
I also ordered her birthday cake and cupcakes two days before the birthday party from a local shop, Susie Cakes and they were nice enough to make a custom cake for me last minute. The cake was covered in pink sprinkles (Alba’s favorite color in case you haven’t noticed by now) with the number 3 cut out on top. It looked really cute and was delicious.
